A Grounded Morning(a list and not a poem)

Wake and see darkness.
Rise and find clothes.
Come from bedroom to kitchen and heat water.
Work out simple puzzles.
Take a deep breath.
Get ready for the day, washing, brushing, dressing, walking.
Go to study with fellow voices and ears and thoughts and hearts.
Hear the Word. Search the Word. Search for words to be inhabited by the Word.
Watch the faces. Listen to the hearts. Recognize the changes.
Watch, listen and seek to recognize changes in my heart.
Settle into rhythm.
Hear a Psalm.
Light the flame.
Pray.
Open the doors to life and work and chance meetings that become appointments with the God who is never surprised and always able to use whatever comes.
It’s a gray day overhead filled with busyness underfoot and wonder, joy, peace and the happenstance of life between.
Blessings and blessings.
