Good News

When was the last time you received good news?
Most days it feels as if the world is shouting. Headlines erupt. Feeds churn. The loudest stories are the ones meant to provoke a reaction, to pull our attention toward whatever is most urgent, most alarming, most divisive. After a while, it can seem almost naïve to look or anything kind or generous or hopeful. As if noticing goodness means we’re pretending things aren’t as hard as they are.
But what if all that eruptive noise isn’t the whole story? What if it simply crowds out the quieter truths that are still unfolding right beside us.
Here’s one alternative.
Provide good news.
You’ve got news. If you’re a follower of Jesus, you carry what Christians have long called “good news” within you. If you’ve ever heard God’s voice, recognized a nudge, or felt a presence that steadied you, then you already hold the evidence that Jesus’ message was true. So, remember… the literal translation of gospel is well‑message. It is the good news that we’re not alone. There is hope. There is Someone who sees and knows what is going on. It makes us well.
The trouble with the good news of Jesus is that his example came down to welcoming people, making friends, enjoying children, attending and even hosting parties. You see why that’s a problem? We’ve turned it into a message to defend rather than wellness to live. We think it’s an argument that needs proof instead of joy that needs practicing.

Meanwhile, yes—there are people manipulating attention, angling for advantage, trying to own or control the narrative. But we don’t have to join that contest. We can simply follow Jesus into the ordinary rhythms he trusted: spending time, enjoying others, teaching people they’re not alone. You can remember that he knew how to cry, when to get angry, and how to reconcile. He knew children mattered. He knew friendship mattered. He knew God was present in the middle of it all.
So maybe, as you go through your day, you feel like you’re not accomplishing enough—not enough to register on the scales of newspapers, newsfeeds, or reels. Maybe that’s true… until you remember the pattern Jesus set. Until you remember that goodness is not measured by noise but by presence.
Provide good news. And rejoice that you know it is good.
